Let's go with the oft-used classic prompt - read a book set in a country other than your own.

I am going to read 2 very short books (novellas) in November, both are set in Venice, Italy: Death in Venice by Thomas Mann and The Aspern Papers by Henry James.

I have completed my read of The Aspern Papers by Henry James and then found, much to my surprise, that it isn't listed on the 1,001 list of books! Oh well, at least I enjoyed it. I will still be reading Death in Venice later on in the month.

>3 DeltaQueen50: I cannot think of any now, but I know I have read a book before, thinking it would certainly be on the list, only to find it was not. I'm glad you enjoyed the book though!

I have completed Death in Venice by Thomas Mann, a very dark story but beautifully written.

Just finished Kiss of the Spider Woman - very much enjoyed the stripped back format of using just dialogue for the majority of the book.
