The views from the gallery of the reading room of the Taylorian Institution Library in Oxford stretch across the rooftops and dreaming spires of the university city, opening towards the rolling hills of south Oxfordshire. My favourite reading room desk combined these views with the neo-classical atmosphere of the main language and linguistics library of Oxford. My own library here in Norway aspires to reflect this atmosphere, as well as opening up towards the theological disciplines I have since entered.
