This traditional tale covers the adventures of a donkey, a dog, a cat and a rooster who are old and shunned by their owners. As they travel to Bremen to try to become musicians, they thwart a band of robbers. They end up living happily ever after in a comfortable country home and realize that they don't need to be famous musicians to be content.

This story comes in many versions, and most have wonderful illustrations. I love the animal characters and the life lesson it teaches.

In the classroom, an art project could be developed using colorful pieces of felt to create the animals for a wall hanging. Children could work in groups to create "their " particular animal.… (mais)
