This is a great book for reading to young children or teaching rhyme/ poetry. This book is not only includes the traditional "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star", it also includes "Start Light, Star Bright," "Wee Willie Winkle," "Are You Sleeping," "Jack Be Nimble," "Hush, Little Baby," Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling," "Rock-a-Bye, Baby," "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear," "Come, Let's Go To Bed," "I See The Moon," "Red Sky at Night," "Now the Day is Over," "Girls and Boys, Come Out to Play," Goosey, Goosey, Gander," "Hey, Diddle, Diddle," "Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John," "The Man in the Moon," and "All Through the Night."
This book, as you can see, has a wide variety of nursery rhymes/ poems to choose from. This is a lovely illustrated book with pastels and soft colors. The children I read this to enjoyed it very much and even asked a few questions.
A possible classroom extension activity for this book may be learning about poems or rhyming. You could possibly have the children write their own poem or just have a literature circle and discuss what rhymes, etc.… (mais)
