Upon reading this book twice, I still have mixed opinions. On the one hand, this mostly high-end dealer of maps and rare books, makes many pointed and accurate observations on selling, collecting, fellow dealers and customers, which is what I look for in a decent memoir, but again, about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way through its 146 pages, I find myself overwhelmed or at least, taken aback by Manasek's holier than thou attitude, i.e., she did this or he did that, but, of course, I always performed from the moral high ground. Now granted, all the good memoirs have their share of this ego trip, but, for some reason, I think a matter of style, UNCOMMON VALUE, becomes repetitive. Even the books title, UNCOMMON VALUE, becomes irksome.… (mais)
