MacNelly was a huge fan of the National Pastime, and especially so of his beloved Chicago Cubs. He was a die-hard Cubs fan, even though they never won a World Series during his lifetime. For those of you who don’t know, the Cubs went 108 years between championships. The frustration of rooting for a perennial losing club comes through in some laugh-out-loud strips when the Perfesser, Skyler, and Shoe sit in the bleachers watching the Cubs. MacNelly’s love of the game provides the foundation for all the strips presented here. Skyler on the mound are some of my all-time favorites.
There are 124 pages, most of which contain two strips.
I’m not a Cubs fan, but I love the game, and this book really made me smile.
