Twisted is a story that is twisted. It is extremely upsetting to hear this story. Unfortunately the narrator read the story in a jerky tone that did the book no good. Four stars were given to this book because of the story. The narrator would get one star.

Another anti-gun activist using his degree and credentials to give his opinion the patina of scientific objectivity.

I was actually interested in his information until he destroyed his credibility in the last 30 minutes (audiobook). He spent 2-1/2 hours discussing potential explanations and possible marker traits for psychopathic killers - both adult and juvenile. He dismissed using blanket trait application because they are not significantly reliable. Then, in the last 20-25 minutes of the audio, he launches into a diatribe against guns and how they need to be restricted. Given Kellerman’s own dismissal of simple traits as identifiers and how many young people grow up with firearms in the household but are not psychopathic murderers, why do guns earn his special attention as the apparent exception to his statements that blanket diagnoses are not legitimate.

Kellerman doesn’t believe all of society should be punished with censorship because a few abnormal individuals react to violence in movies and on television. But 100% of gun enthusiasts should be punished because those few abnormal individuals used a specific tool to act on those impulses. Hypocrite much, Kellerman?

What about restricting use of drugs like Ritalin or Adderall or pain relievers because we are turning out generations of drug addicts?

Kellerman cites shorter times between sentencing and execution in Saudi Arabia as a significant deterrent to violent crime in that country. Instead of lifetime incarceration of the truly psychopathic killer, perhaps carrying out death sentences more quickly would be a better solution.

Because, sometimes, evil is just evil. And it should not be tolerated.

After a school shooting, Detective Milo Sturgis calls in his friend and LAPD consulting psychologist, Dr. Alex Delaware, to provide counseling for the traumatized kids. The unlikely shooter, a young girl, is killed, but her death leaves more questions than answers for the police. Things morph quickly into political rivalry, racist pro-nazi groups, and strange cloak-and-dagger operatives. The first part of the book goes slow while Alex does his thing at the school and starts a new relationship with the principal, Dr. Linda Overstreet, but once the action begins, there are lots of it, along with a couple of plot twists that I didn’t see coming. There are so many issues in this book that I found it hard to keep up and still hang onto the storyline. To bring it all together, Mr. Kellerman does a lot of explaining at the end. It worked—barely.

Quick read and ok addition to series. Definitely not as outrageous as many of his others.

But lack of a good plot as well as no development in the main characters' lives reduces the quality of this series.

You can never go wrong reading or listening to a Jonathan Kellerman book! This is book 39 in the Dr. Alex Delaware and his best friend, Lieutenant Milo Sturgis series. Alex has been recovering from a serious injury inflicted while helping Milo with a murder in the last book. He's happy when Milo finally calls him again for help even though it seems a little too safe of an investigation...until it isn't.½

When the Bough Breaks is a book about men who love to play with young children. It is a horrible story with a terrible ending. It is heartbreaking because one knows that this must be happening. Four stars were given in this review for the book.

Alex and Milo investigate the case of a wealthy, young photographer being murdered in his nondescript home. The photographer was working on a "dream" project of inviting homeless people to his studio and recreating them in the way that they wish their life had gone. Is one of the Wishers guilty of murder?

The characterizations in this book are particularly well done. Each of the homeless has a personality making this a very good read.

The Ghost Orchid is a real flower that grows in Florida. It is difficult to find and fits one of the characters. The book is a good story from beginning to end. Somehow with no clues, the murders are able to be solved. Four stars were given in this review for another great Dr. Alex Delaware thriller.

While this was an entertaining read with mastermind Alex Delaware, it did not keep me on the edge of my seat. With wild speculations and a plodding intrigue, this books takes the reader in the world of eccentric movie stars who have more charisma than brains. I did enjoy the dynamic between Milo and Alex, as well as the incremental logic, but the buildup was predictable and as such, the story could have been shortened for more dramatic effect.½

Therapy is a good story with interesting characters. There are several brutal murders with no evidence. The title Therapy has to do with the characters involved at the center of the murders are all in the psychology field. The line between good guys and bad guys is slim which helps to extend the plot. This book was given four stars in this review.

Meagin March and Gio Aggiunta are executed and Milo has absolutely no leads. Alex is called in to help piece together who was the primary target and why. Compelling and quick moving.

Self-Defense is a good story from beginning to end. With no clues at all, old murders are solved. Four stars were given to this short review. It's a good story.
