This flashback wasn't awkward at all for me. Maybe cause my attention was focused on the underlying affection and what's this episode reveal about Toreth:
"For once in his life someone had done him a favour without even a hint of strings attached, and it was a strange feeling."

So that was what it sounded like when someone knew you, and they still meant it."
