Resenhas

I feel slightly confused and partially awestruck and a little bit existential after finishing this.
Beautiful little illustrations and strange short stories that are very odd and sometimes satirical. It's honestly a little choppy, and weird, but- it worked. I would read more by Davis.

A monster learns to control his anger and be friendly, and a boy learns to be industrious and set aside his fear. Another hit with our preschooler.

This was quirky and good. Still, on the whole I prefer my meditations on art to be a little more multivalenced. Despite her surrealism, Davis seems to think "Why art?" is a question with an answer. Idk, maybe there's more nuance to this little book than I picked up on. Despite my reservations I still enjoyed its sketchy, assured creativity.

Wonderful, evocative, beautiful work. I'm almost taking this quality for granted with her now, especially at this short comic length. It's less a story, more of a vignette of those revelatory moments one has in adolescence. Bittersweet, with a caustic undertone. The art is so fully in service to the story, it elevates the work by magnitudes.
