In truth, I expected something more than the text of a speech when I ordered this title. The author makes a few quotable points (In the fifteenth century, "The law library defined legal education and the knowledge of the lawyer more concretely than a syllabus of courses. Who knew what professors might do in class?"), and spends more time on the development of canon law rather than civil law, but is a solid work given its brief text.
