This book provides much-needed perspective on the societal circumstances in which Jesus was living and ministering. There were a few points that seemed like a stretch or like they were overstated to help make his point, but overall the book was immensely helpful in giving me some perspective on Jesus’s parables. I considered giving this book 3 stars due to the occasional overstatement or stretch mentioned above, but the book is so unique and helpful and there are so few people talking about this aspect of NT culture that it gets points for usefulness and timeliness.… (mais)
