When a bully is seen as bigger or stronger, a person can feel helpless and alone in their effort to stand up for themselves. Even though others may be having similar experiences, if no one speaks up, everyone can feel alone. This books shows that there is strength and power in numbers. I especially love the message this book give children, that the strength they need to stand up to a bully and stand up for themselves or others exists inside of them already. ( ) This story is in honor of preventing bullying and to promote bullying awareness!! Nowadays bullying is not talked about enough in school, and it is important to equip our students with the right materials and references they need incase talking about it can be hard for them. It only takes for something to happen once to be considered bullying, this book falls into a modern fantasy category because even though "bully beans" is not something that really exists, it's just something that was created for the story! It gives children the power to believe if they ate these bully beans, bully's will steer clear of them and they can be safe, there is also a message about safety in numbers and if you eat the beans and stay close by to your friends, that can also keep the bullies out!! I enjoyed the creativeness of the illustrations and the reality of the situation, making it a relatable read for both schools and students to read. Summary: Bobbette is a mean bully, who makes children do and say anything she wants. Bobbette tells the children she will twist them into human pretzels if they do not do what she wants. When this little girl talks to her mom about the bully her mom gives he Bully Beans (jelly beans). Bully beans are magic beans that make you strong so you can stand up to bullies. Personal Reaction: Very good book for dealing with bullies. There is a small part that explains why Bobbette is a bully. This tells children how to handle a bully. Classroom Extensions: 1.Give children their own small bag of jelly (bully) beans to help them to deal with a hard time in the future. 2.Talk about what to do if they have problems with bullies. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
