This small booklet (literally) has an arresting title: I'm calling the police. Over the past three months I have run into two people who said that they were calling the police in conflict situations with me. Actually, I am still flabbergasted because I do not believe I am the kind of person who seeks conflict, but apparently some people here are so stressed that they cannot deal with me. I am bringing this up because I think announcement I'm calling the police is actually a flight forward in a situation that is hopeless. It is an act of despair.
In Irvin Yalom 's book, co-authored with Robert L. Berger this is just the case. However, although it saves the boy's life, he cannot save another man's life and this saddles him up with a lifelong trauma. The booklet describes how this trauma surfaced and how it was cured.
Ik waarschuw de politie could be characterised as a case study. Irvin Yalom is a psyciatrist and a novelist. The suggestion is that this is a true story, but perhaps it is fiction. ( )

Tutti i terapeuti esperti sanno che ci saranno un sacco di ripetizioni, che a volte la gente non è in grado di operare dei cambiamenti rapidi e andrà avanti a ripetere certe cose all’infinito. Una volta qualcuno ha paragonato la terapia al processo dell’avvitamento dei dadi quando si deve cambiare una ruota. Devi avvitare un dado, poi un po’ tutti gli altri, poi tornare indietro e avvitare di nuovo il primo. Quindi la ripetizione esiste.
