Caramellunacy: Both are mysteries with psychics and a healthy dose of romantic overtones. Abby Cooper becomes wrapped up in a murder investigation when one of her clients dies a violent death and (reluctantly) uses her abilities to help solve the case. In Truly, Madly the protagonist must take over her family's matchmaking business despite the fact that her power only allows her to find lost objects - and the last object she saw happens to be on a dead woman's finger.… (mais)

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun little mystery. The narration was well done. I look forward to more books in this series. ( )

You know the saying "don't judge a book by its' cover"? Well, I definitely do. For better or worse, if a cover catches my eye, I want to give it a try.

I was browsing Audible one day when this cover caught my eye along with the title: Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye. Now, lately I've been in a biography/memoir mood for my audiobooks. Especially when they are read by the author. I've tried different fiction works but they simply haven't been keeping my attention lately. Until now.

Elizabeth Michaels did a great job at making Victoria Laurie's first installment of the Psychic Eye Mystery series come alive. She kept my attention throughout the entire book and kept me so entertained that I didn't even switch to Pandora radio during my commute. Not an easy feat lately to be honest.

This book took a new look on psychics/intuitives. I loved the way Abby stayed true to herself and I found her and Dutch to be incredibly amusing. Probably not the way their relationship was intended to come across, but I was amused all the same.

I am definitely interested to see more of the sisterly dynamic between Abby and Kat as well as to see the relationship between Abby and Dutch develop. I'm sure Abby's next adventures will be just as captivating as this one. And I will definitely be continuing this in audiobooks. ( )

Extremely addictive - I stayed up all night reading, my mom borrowed it and stayed up all night reading, and then my sister stayed up all night reading it and bought the rest of the series in the morning. Quick, fun, no nutritional value whatsoever: literary crack. ( )

Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye
3 Stars

Abby Cooper is a psychic therapist who helps her clients find their own paths in life. Unfortunately, Abby’s abilities give her no warning of the upcoming upheaval in her own life when a client is found murdered and her charming blind date turns out to be a detective who now sees her as a prime suspect…

Abby’s humor and practical approach to being psychic make her a particularly likable heroine although there are one or two moments when her behavior is somewhat questionable and her terrible memory for details leads to a lot of wasted time and misunderstandings that could be avoided.

The mystery is good with several intense moments and a slew of plausible suspects. That said, the ultimate explanation falls short mainly due to the fact that the author’s terminology is incorrect - the villain is an abuser not a serial killer and this shows a decided lack of knowledge and research. Moreover, the dialogue is childish at times and the tone of the book far too cutsey for my tastes.

The romance has potential. Even though Dutch does not make a good first impression, his developing love/hate relationship with Abby is entertaining.

Unfortunately, Elizabeth Michaels narration is weak. To begin with, she sounds at least 10 years older than Abby and her voices are all the same. There is no distinction between male and female characters nor does she differentiate accents. This is exceedingly disappointing as the first person perspective necessitates audio for me and it is unlikely that I would listen to another. ( )

Really liked this. Feels a little closer to chick lit, which is good for me. I liked the emphasis on the lead character's relationship with her sister, too.
