I'm really picky when it comes to baby knits. There are so many frumpy, ugly patterns in garish colors that I go through whole books without finding a pattern I'd be willing to knit, even if I changed the colors and altered the pattern.
So, I'm pleased to say I'd knit (or, to be realistic, I'd be happy to have knit for me) almost all of the patterns in this book! There are great, basic patterns--real workhorses (if the patterns are easy to follow) that you could use over and over. Like, this could be the book to buy. You don't have to use organic natural fibers if your budget doesn't allow, but the shapes and styles would look good in any fiber.
The book begins with definitions of different natural fibers. I know a lot about knitting, but I'd never heard of milk cotton (cotton with milk proteins spun in to make it softer!), so I'm impressed that I've already learned something.
The aesthetic of the book is incredibly pleasing. I feel calmer having looked though it.
Downsides:
Some of the photos are poorly printed in my copy, but you can see all of the knit pieces clearly.
There are images of all of the items in the beginning of the book, which is fine. There aren't photos (let alone multiple photos showing different angles) with all of the patterns, so you may end up guessing how things go together (again, only really a problem if the pattern isn't clear).
