A book that starts with a break-up? How depressing... Well, not really, no. Once Lars turned up frozen on the doorstep, and with no sign of another lover interest, I knew who to root for I don't re-read the blurb before I open the book, so the content is almost always a surprise). And root for Lars to win Seth back, I did. The more I got to know him, the more I wanted him to break down Seth's resistence.

Only grumble, the reason for them being thrown together to run the B & B felt contrived. I guessed it early on, and hence never felt Seth's sense of worry. Also, in the circumstances, the chances of the Aunt or Uncle not getting in touch at some point during the week (at the very least with their own child in a "hey have you seen your Dad" type conversation) seems unlikely.

Kicking myself for not buying the sequel at the same time now! ( )

Carol of the Bellskis by Astrid Amara had the authors trademark sense of humor and well executed plot. I really like her writing style and Seth and Lars angst and snow affected romance was a delightful read. I think she nailed the pacing of the story as it comes in at a pretty pivotal time in the boys relationship. The story flows over the ensuing angst beautifully. I think Lars did seriously need a kick in the pants, but his coming to terms with his sexuality and what was important to him made this a sweet read. I am beginning to look forward to this time of year and these holiday reads!
