I love how this book introduces the struggles of the Little Rock Nine to a younger audience. It brings historic awareness to these children. I would read this book during Black History month. ( ) Cracking the Wall: The Struggles of the Little Rock Nine was the story of the monumental point in history for African-Americans. This story details the struggles and triumph of nine African-American high school students trying to attend an all white high school in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Supreme Court had ruled that segregation of students in schools was unconstitutional. Each student helped to change the future for African-Americans by having the courage to stand up for what they believed. They had the right to attend Central High and wanted everyone to see that. Although their struggle was hard, they helped to pave the way for other African-Americans by not allowing the hatred of others keep them from gaining a proper education. I felt that this book was very informational. It depicted how difficult the end of segregation in southern schools was for African-Americans during the 1950s and 1960s. This moment in history helped to pave and change the future of all African-Americans. It helped others gain the strength to stand up for what they believed to be right. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
