It’s also the second book I’ve read by her (the first being the Courage to Love, book 1 of this series). Not having read the previous 4 books in this series did not detract from the story at all. There were a few characters that I can imagine were from the previous books, but at no point was I lost in what was going on. I really enjoyed Love in Exile. I thought the characters were well written. First there’s Gregory. He’s skating the edge between two cultures. His father is a well known English scientist and his mother is Polynesian. He can tell he’s different from both and he prefers living in his mother’s land than spending time on English soil. On his latest excursion to England, he hopes to find someone to pass the time with, and he gets his wish with Nat and Alecia Digby, a younger couple who intrigue him from the beginning. Nat and Alecia were interesting characters as well. I like how although their marriage was arranged, they overcame the obstacles at the beginning of their marriage and eventually fell in love. And they do take the odd gentleman into their bed from time to time but their loyalties lie with each other. But Gregory changes that – and they change things for Gregory as well. He no longer wants someone to just pass the time with, he’s looking for more, but can the threat of blackmail keep them away from each other forever? One qualm I had was when Nat, Alecia and Gregory initially came together. Nat had been with men in the past and I was worried that he would care for Gregory more than he cares for Alecia. I had the same feeling for Gregory as well – would they leave Alecia out? But that fear was totally groundless. Samantha Kane knows how to write threesomes really well and thought it was balanced out well. I have to give Love in Exile a 4 out of 5! August 19, 2012 This story was a little different for this series. I like the premise. Gregory Anderson was outstanding. I like how Ms. Kane handled his attitude about his heritage. Nathaniel and Alecia were also very intriguing. Their arrangement to share the bed with others so Nat would have what he needed was ingenuous. I was impressed that Alecia was so willing to work out a way to save her marriage. I was glad that three people got together and found a way to have what they all wanted and needed. I was also glad that Gregory was able to get the couple out of the abusive relationship they were in. I was glad to see some of the characters from earlier books show up in this one. Even if the direction of one of those relationships caused me to be very sad. This is a short story so it would be great as an afternoon read. January 18, 2015 This book is a little different from the previous books in this series. Gregory "Palu" Anderson hasn't been mentioned in any of the earlier books and I kind of wished that he had been. Palu is a child of an English explorer and a native woman from the Friendly Islands. He has suffered from the prejudice of being a half breed. The English can be more than a little unforgiving by those that are different. I guess that is true of everyone in one way of another. I was very happy to find that Palu knew all the other men that have had stories so far. It is important to have loyal friends. I liked Palu very much. He is a kind, loving and intelligent man that is lonely and more than a little hopeless. It was very pleasing to see him find a couple that was just as lost as he was. Alecia "Lee" and Nathan "Nat" Digby are just a little lost after their marriage almost ends in scandal and disgrace. These two want to leave England and start their lives over. Alecia is at odds with her self-righteous and abusive father. Her father won’t release her dowry until she has a child and Nat is unable to have children. They are both attracted to Palu before they even know who he is. Their friend Daniel is also Palu's childhood friend so he introduces everyone. It doesn't take long for Lee and Nat to find they are not only physically attracted to Palu but they care for him deeply. I guess the saddest part of this story is that these two have been muddling through life waiting for a catalyst to make their lives complete. Other than the conflict between Lee and Nat and her father this story is about three people finding each other and realizing they are meant to be together. This is a shorter story than the other novels but it isn't short of emotional upheaval and hot, steamy sex. I do wish that something bad had happened to Hardington. The man is a self-centered idiot that needs to be taken out and given a lesson in courtesy and honor. This is a quick read. I will warn that there is m/m sex in this story for those that don’t enjoy those types of stories. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
Brothers in Arms, Book SixGregory Anderson has reluctantly returned to England in 1817 after more than seven years sailing the world. Half Polynesian, Gregory is caught between two worlds. He isn't looking for love. He's only looking for a warm body with a modicum of wit and reasonable intelligence to help him get through the few short months he'll be in England.Nat and Alecia Digby's marriage, arranged when they were young and foolish, was almost ruined before it began when they both took lovers. They don't want to give up the erotic games they learned to play and enjoy, but they won't risk their marriage again by falling in love with someone else. When the three meet, they think it will be nothing more than a night or two of shared pleasure and erotic thrills. But the unthinkable happens, because love refuses to be forced into exile. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
