A homeless boy and his mother spend their nights in the local park sleeping in a metal rocket that doubles as a plaything for children in the day. Zac loves the rocket, at night he dreams he is zooming through outer space. Mandy has a surprise for Zac, they will be moving into a real house! Zac is excited but he wonders if he will miss the rocket. This book was sad and heartwarming, the idea of a homeless mother and her son making the best out of the situation by sleeping in a rocket each night is just heartbreaking. This book does have a happy ending for the mother and son. When they pass on their nighttime home(the rocket) to a homeless friend, it leaves the reader aware that the problem still exists and needs to be addressed. This book would be a great introduction to the problem of homelessness in America. ( )

Zac and his mother, Mandy, are homeless and sleep in a rocket ship sculpture. Zac loves to look at the stars and pretend he is travelling into outer space at night. He likes living in the rocket ship. When Mandy's friend offers for Mandy and Zac to come live with him in his house, Zac is sad because he does not want to leave the rocket ship. He then passes on the rocket ship home to one of his friends, who is also homeless, and tells her to enjoy it and take care of it. This story does a good job of introducing a topic that is normally difficult to talk about, especially with children. ( )

This is a good book to read to students about a mother and son who are homeless. The pair sleeps in a rocket shaped play set that the young boy, Zac imagines to be a real rocket. In this book you get imagery of what life is like to be homeless and have to sleep outside and get clean up in a bathroom. In the end of the book, Zac and his mother move to a friends' home and Zac insists on an older lady to live in the rocket. ( )

This book tells a story of Mandy and her son Zac. They are homeless and they sleep in a street art rocket. Although Mandy and her son are homeless they still find things to be thankful for. In this story children and adults will be reminded of the saying that “there is always someone worse of then you.” ( )
