Yes, there were lots of things going on but it was all tied in together and I felt like it worked. I loved Sabre, the main character, and her dedication to her job. I also loved her relationship with her co-worker, Bob. They are platonic buddies and I really liked that. I was also enchanted with Alexis who is the ultimate Southern Belle at 10 yrs. old. LOL!! Gotta love the South! Looking forward to reading more about Sabre and hoping to see some of the other characters too and maybe meet Mr. Spinola? I met the author at the Tucson book festival earlier this year and really enjoyed talking to her. But, I didn't get around to reading the book she gave me until now. It was a little slow to get into but I got sucked in about 13 through and couldn't put it down until I was done. I can't wait to read the next in the series, but this bodes ill for the books I should be reading to complete the "read harder 2016 challenge"! I hope the author returns to the TFOB in March. I started reading yesterday and couldn't put it down. Ms. Burrell has woven a wholly credible tale of deceit, drama and courage. Sabre, a dedicated young attorney, always wants what's best for her clients. When a particularly baffling case lands on her desk, it will take all of Sabre's wits to get to the bottom of things. The Advocate is definitely a page-turner. The characters come to life with rich description and believable dialogue. It is well paced and the story flows easily. If you're a Fan of courtroom drama and crime fiction, give this book a go Disclaimer: I received a gift copy of this book as preparation for reviewing more recent installments in the Advocate series. My review is posted voluntarily because I liked this book so much. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

Twists came as further investigative steps were taken after conversations with parents, law enforcement, and the social worker unraveled family history, parent/child dynamics, and different aspects of the night that led to the children’s placement in care.
I love reading legal novels. I liked the characterization of Sabre Brown, except for her acceptance/tolerance of nicknames given to her by colleague Bob Clark.
Whether in the Education field or Family Law, the mantra is "What is in the best interest of the child?" It came as no surprise to learn Teresa Burrell has been an elementary school teacher and an attorney working in the juvenile court system, as dialogues in the novel reflect the realism of her experiences.
I look forward to reading more of this series. ( )
