Another fun, divert the apocalypse book by Rollins. Sigma force saves the day! This book held a lot of promise for me as the pages turned. I love the Sigma series and James Rollins has always kept my interest. I always look forward to new releases and put several of his previous novels near the top of my stack of favorite techno-thrillers. However, the more pages I read, the more complicated and twisted the plot of [b:The Devil Colony|7202829|The Devil Colony (Sigma Force #7)|James Rollins|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1264522557s/7202829.jpg|7897971] became. While I find Rollins an excellent researcher on par with the late Michael Crichton, his embellishments--which make any story fascinating--were a little on the extreme side for this reader, especially with regard to nanotechnology. In addition, I felt cheated with the ending, almost as if it were rushed and not flushed out enough. If I hadn't spent most of my teenage years exploring many of the same settings found in this book, I think I may have overlooked some plot points. I did notice a difference in how I viewed the locations found in this book versus locations described in other books by Rollins. The familiarity of the settings may have thrown me off a bit. Also, the portrayal of the Ute people--a subject I studied for a long time as an integral element to one of my own stories--seemed almost stereotypical in certain parts, and I wanted more. Overall, [b:The Devil Colony|7202829|The Devil Colony (Sigma Force #7)|James Rollins|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1264522557s/7202829.jpg|7897971] is a great read, but not perfect. It's like a nice ribeye steak slightly overdone at the edges but tasty in the middle. Excellent addition to the Sigma Force series. A Native American protest group inadvertently detonates explosives in a burial site, triggering a geothermal catastrophe that threatens the planet. At the same time, the Guild is after gold tablets bearing long buried secrets of immense power for manipulating matter at the sub-atomic level. Director Painter Crowe goes off to Utah and Yellowstone, while Grey Pierce and Seichan head to Iceland and Kentucky to save the planet. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
