This book in my opinion, is a special one. The story was very touching, sweet, and good.Maura's Angel is the story about a girl named Maura who is an eleven year old girl living through a civil war in Ireland. Although she is only eleven, she acts older then her age. She helps her mother everyday, taking care of her other siblings. Her two younger brothers and her older sister Colleen, who is Nineteen and mentally challenged.

Her oldest brother was sent to prison for fighting for his beliefs and her father is off fighting in this war. Bombs going off and soldiers lingering through the neigborhoods is all normal for Maura, but one day a bomb goes off near her as she is going home from school and on the ground next to her, is a girl who is just like Maura. From that moment, Maura forms a special bond with this girl, Angela.

Angela touches the lives of Maura and her family in this story and you learn that as humans, we don't realize the magic of living. Of being able to feel pain and love. To taste food and smell wonderful scents. You also learn how powerful faith and prayer can be and that when things seem confusing and unfair- everything has its purpose.

What really touched me about this story is how Maura has an impact on Angela. Angela is an angel and through Maura she is able to live by learning how. ( )

I LOVE this book... The first time I read it, I was at a really strange time in my life, and this book really made me think a lot. The things the angel (I can't remember her name...) says about heaven are wonderful. ( )
