So, as every comic book fan knows, when a character "dies," he or she doesn't stay dead for long. Even Bucky (who is now the "new" Captain America), who remained dead for decades, was resurrected. This trade is the set-up for Steve Rogers' return.

Unfortunately, the trade kind of suffers because of the numbering of the issues. It includes #50 of Brubaker's run, as well as #600 of the Captain America series. Those two issues are mostly "look back" issues that don't add much to the current story. And #601, also included in this trade, is a leftover story that feels out of place. I liked issue #49, which shows Sharon Carter's grief about her role in Steve's death. Other than that, there's not much here that is necessary to Brubaker's Cap storyline. ( )

If you haven't read any of the Captain America comics, "Road to Reborn" will provide you with all the backstory you need to enjoy this storyline. A series of shorts by different artists explain the Cap's origins, his role in WWII and the missing years. ( )
