My mom would always read this book to me and my brother when we were younger, so it was enjoyable to become reacquainted with it. The first reason I liked this book is because of the illustrations. They look like they were painted on the paper with watercolors, which is a unique way to portray illustrations that is engaging to look at. The illustrations were done in mostly cool pastel colors, which fit perfectly with the winter setting and characters of the book because the penguins were surrounded by fluffy snow and light blue skies. My favorite illustration depicted Tim swimming in the ocean with a few seals because everything on the page was colored in different shades of blue or green, with the exception of an orange starfish and Tim’s orange flippers. The second reason I liked this book is because is portrayed a strong theme of family. Throughout the book, Pete and Tim (father and son) trek through the snow to do different activities like sliding down a hill and having a snowball fight. When Tim’s little legs get tired, his father picks him up to carry him or helps him climb up a hill. I like that it shows father-son bonding and that it ends with the father, mother and son snuggled close together to spend the night in their cave. The big idea of this story is that your family will always be there for you to help you when you need it, and that fun can always be had when you are with your family. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
