Who hasn’t wondered about the Bermuda Triangle, that mysterious area in the Atlantic Ocean where ships and people have vanished into the mist. Where do they go? We discover what happens to one group who leave for a day of fishing and find themselves returning to a much changed Florida coast after sailing through a storm in Through The Triangle, a science fiction thriller, by C. P. Stewart.

The novel starts off with a bang when we meet Manny Contraldo. Manny is an escaped con and up to no good. He ends up assuming the identity of a businessman and takes his place on a deep sea fishing charter with fellow passengers Jake and his son Nathan, the captain, Mason, and his first-mate, Juan. But Manny is only one of the dangers this unlikely group of adventurers will face after they survive the storm and arrive back on shore 300 years in the future. They now need to rely on themselves, their knowledge, skills and each other to survive.

Stewart has created an interesting future world for his characters to explore. It has all the elements of adventure and enough detail to draw you in but not so much as to make your head burst. This was a very enjoyable read which kept me turning the pages in anticipation to find out what would happen next. The story did not become predictable and I was kept in suspense for the surprise ending. I will say this much, without giving up any spoilers, it could have gone in several directions but I was pleased with how it turned out.

I admit I am a big fan of science fiction. I grew up reading the adventure filled books of the 60′s and 70′s and watching television shows like the original Star Trek, places where science solves the problems of the world not causes them as we see in many of the novels today. As the trend in science fiction becomes darker and more dystopian, with characters and plot lines that are confusing and sometimes undecipherable, it’s refreshing to find this fun, fast-paced adventure that will appeal to fans of all ages. The Oblique View, a small fishing vessel, takes you on an adventure that will be remembered for a very long time. Aboard is Captain Mason Bankowski living out his dream and his experienced hand Juan, who is wise above his years. There is Jake and Nathan Myers, a father and son struggling to heal a semi-estranged relationship. Then there is Manny, an escaped murderer under an assumed identity, who is waiting for just the right moment to kill everyone on board and sail away to freedom. Manny has calculated every angle to ensure his freedom except for the fast approaching storm that will soon change the lives of all on board.

This is so much more than the typical compass spinning , vanishing without a trace, triangle tale. This is a story of the future of our very own country. The fascinating descriptions of our future technology is amazing, but the many faces of human nature is captivating!
In nothing short of genius C.P. Stewart has done a superb job in creating his characters. Their personalities, strong points and weaknesses are interwoven into the progression of the story's plot. Through The Triangle is very well written, thought out and put together to create one of the best stories I have ever had the privilege of reading. This is a page turner packed full of adventure and action, a must read! ( )

For anyone interested in the Bermuda Triangle, this book is a must read. The book begins with a murder. The killer joins a group going deep sea fishing where they encounter a freak storm over the Bermuda Triangle. We find the characters have been transported into the future. There are many small plots throughout. Nathan a divorced father is on this trip with his son trying to fix their relationship after his mother died. There is the story of survival as they land on the futuristic island filled with half man/half animal creatures, and advanced technology. This book was easy to read and kept your attention throughout the book. A recommended book for science fiction lovers, time-travel lovers and anyone who loves the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. One of my favorite unexplained world mysteries is the “Bermuda Triangle”. So when I read the back cover of this book I immediately placed it on the top of my “TBR” list.The book begins at a rest stop where Allen Cranston has been murdered by Manny Contraldo. Manny who has just broke out of prison and is in a hurry to get out of the country to evade the police force, discovered that Allen was on his way to a deep sea fishing trip, the perfect escape and decided to pose as him. He soon realized though that he wouldn’t be able to execute that plan, since there are four other people going on the fishing trip that was expecting a one Allen Cranston to join them. Mason Bankowski, Captain of the Oblique View. The father-son Jake and Nathan Meyers and Juan, Mason's assistant. So while Manny is hurriedly formulating plan b, they encountered a freak storm that was both quick and short lived. Then, strange things begin to happen. On their quest for answers they are faced with frightening discoveries. They have actually entered the Devils Triangle and the storm they encountered has transported them 300 years into the future where mutants - half-man/half animal exist. There, technologies are light years in advance, with genetically modified food, strange buildings and people who refer to themselves as Azul Ojos which means Blue Eyes. The book was well written and the plot was thorough. The idea of those lost ships, planes and people transported into another dimension after entering the “Bermuda triangle” has always sparked my curiosity. So, for me, reading this book was totally awesome. Futuristic and Sci-Fi stories are not really my favorite genre but every once in a while I'll stumble onto something like this book that is worth recommending. ( )

One warning going into this book is you need to sort of suspend reality. One of the main characters was a chemical engineer and initially I kept thinking and why would a chemical engineer know these types of things? It was very hard to find it believable. Once I moved beyond that this was actually an interesting story. A boat carrying a father (the chemical engineer) and son as well as the captain and first mate gets caught up in a storm. When the storm clears they find themselves in a transformed Florida coast. They find out that they were transported over 200 years in the future. I loved reading about what happened to humanity and how life mutated over the centuries. Overall a fun read. ( )
