My teacher read this book to our elementary literature class, and I like this book. The book is a great book to show your child or if you are a teacher then your class that it is okay to have your fears and have something to comfort them. ( )

"I Need My Monster" by Amanda Noll is a fantasy picture book. It is about a little boy who wants a scary monster under his bed at night when he sleeps. He requests the scariest one to stay under his bed to help him to sleep at night. As each monster appears, they are not scary enough until the last one appears. By being able to relate to the little boy, it is a great way to show kids they do not have to be scared about monsters hiding under their beds. This book would be a great book to use for my students in my future classroom. Grades kindergarten through third grade could relate to this book very well. It can show them not to be scared at night because the little boy is not. He could not sleep until he had the scariest monster under his bed. In class we watched a reading of the book. I thought this would be useful in the classroom for the students to be able to watch it being read aloud from another teacher. ( )

I went out on my annual buy-nephew-a-book spree last night. Unfortunately, he's not old enough for this yet. But I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Ethan can't sleep. There's no monster under his bed. He twists and turns a bit, but it's no use. He knocks on the floor (I love this) to summon a parade of substitute monsters.

The artwork is something I suspect will be love-it or hate-it for many people: an ultra-saturated, photo-realistic to the point of unreality kind of illustration. I love it, especially for the subject. There are a few reviews complaining about the dismissal of the girl monster because she's a girl. She's a girl monster hiding under the bed of a little boy, people. His dismissal was completely sensible, not at all disrespectful, and totally in keeping with the fact that he's, you know, a little boy. To each her own, I suppose.

I will keep this in the back of my mind for when nephew is a bit older. ( )

This book was cute but creepy in my opinion. I like how the child like monsters but is also kinda afraid of them because I think that is how most people feel well at least I know that for me.

Ethan can't sleep without his monster, Gabe hiding under his bed. They hire a substitute to come in and do the job. However, it's just not the same. Ethan is about to give up, when Gabe returns. The pictures in this book are vivid and create a fantastic picture for the reader and listener. ( )
