"Mama Says" is a touching, all-ages picture book about words of wisdom passed down from mother to children. The book features mothers and children from various cultures brought to life with beautiful illustrations. One of my favorite parts is how it included translations on most pages of the verses in various languages including Cherokee, Hindi, and Japanese. There is also a symbol on each page which helps you look up and learn about that particular language in the back of the book. This would make a beautiful gift to a parent. ( ) Simply beyond lovely. "Mama Says" will resonate deeper with mothers and grown sons but children will enjoy the simple rhyming poem and understand the basic lessons that all mothers impart. The illustrations are stunning but then you'd expect no less from the Dillons! The universality of the mother/son relationship shines in the multicultural depictions and translations into 11 other languages. This moving book shares words of wisdom and important life lessons as taught by mothers across the globe to their young sons. I love this multicultural book because it includes each mother's lesson written in her native language, in addition to English, and it provides the reader with deep and heartfelt advice for life. This would be a great book to share with a K-3 classroom to show students life lessons-sharing, loving, believing, helping, trusting, etc.- from a multicultural perspective. Mama Says is a delightful book about a mothers love to her son. Throughout the book the mothers are giving different kinds of advice to their young sons about life and what kind of man they want them to grow up to be. Te aspect of this book that makes it so amazing is that on each page there is a differen culture being represented. For example, on one page there is an Ethiopian family being represented on the page and it says the words in English and then there is a translation into Amharic, which is one of the main lagnuages spoken in Ethiopia. This book is a great book for children to see how we are all different but then similar in many ways! sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
