Jillian comes home from an overnight trip to find that not only has her house been broken into, one of her three cats is missing! When the police come, they find that there is nothing else missing. Was Syrah catnapped or did he head outside on his own? Only one of the police is interested in helping figure out if Jillian’s cat was stolen and was the reason for the break-in, but she is quickly taken off the case, so she and Jillian set off to see what they can figure out on their own. Jillian is certain Syrah was stolen. I really enjoyed this one. The cats seemed extra-involved somehow, which of course, made it more fun for me. And there were a lot of them. I suppose they were a bigger part of the storyline, due to the catnapping. I liked some of the additional characters and some not-so-much. There was one conversation near the start of the book between Jillian and her new policewoman friend, Candace, where I rolled my eyes a bit and thought – neither woman is the brightest bulb, is she? But, it got (much) better. This was a nice light read. Although it's a whodunnit book, it's nothing overly dramatic. Just a fluffy read. Sometimes we need that! This was my first Leann Sweeney book and it was better than I had expected. As for the characters, I could see the potential for any of them to have been cat thief and the killer. As I got closer to the end, I thought I knew who had done it, but I was wrong. I was pleasantly surprised. Will likely try to read more of Sweeney's work. This title and book had me at cats as I, too, am a cat lady. I hate to say that this is a delightful read since there is a murder involved, but what I mean is that there is no sex or foul language! Jill lost her husband a few months prior. Now she has had a break in and one of her cats (she has 3) is missing. Who would be cynical enough to steal a cat? Jill sets out to find who and why. What happens along the way is that she discovers a corpse. Through this discovery, Jill also makes friends with a policewoman and Tom who installs a security system in her house. This is the first book in the series and I am looking forward to reading the second and third. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

Cat lovers will enjoy this heartily. I will definitely read more by this author. She does a great job of capturing the joy/perils of living with cats. ( )
