Child slavery is a rough topic, so I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book, but my main objections to it are the voice, which is not particularly believable as the voice of a child, and the fact that it is unrelentingly depressing. I think it's fair for it to be unrelentingly depressing given the subject matter, and maybe other people would find Iqbal's story inspiring. This particular book just really didn't work for me. Iqbal is a novel about a real boy named Iqbal Masih who fought to free children from cruel bonded labor in Pakistan. The story is told by a young girl who, along with many other children, is also a bonded laborer. She tells of their experiences as labors under terrible and unfair conditions. Iqbal is able to escape and set the rest of the children free. He then sets out to free all children from bonded labor until he is killed at the end of story. Iqbal is an inspiring story that helps people to stand up for what they think is right even if it means sacrificing their own life in the end. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
