Pinch is a packrat. He collects lots of stuff. When his friends decide to hold a tag sale, Pinch is horrified. The last thing he wants to do is recycle his things. But then he realizes that he can make money at a tag sale—enough money to buy more stuff! How Pinch changes and finds a way to beautify his town teaches us about the three R’s— reduce, reuse, and recycle.

The book, Stuff!: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is a book about a pack rat who refuses to get rid of his things. The pack rat has accumlated so much that his things are pouring out of his windows and into his lawn. The town decides they want to have a huge yard sale and they convince pack rat to sell some of his things. At first pack rat wasen't too happy to get rid of his things until he realized he could make money and buy more things. After the yard sale the pack rat invites his family to sell their things too. All the money made from the yard sale went to their commmunity to buy tress. And at the end of the story everybody helps to plant the new trees.
This is a great book for young children to teach about recyling and how selling old things you no longer use can help buy something that will help the environment. ( )

Pack Rat, literally, donates his stuff to buy trees for the park. ( )

Mostly just inoffensive without anything too interesting to stand out about this title - a hoarder mouse learns that the 'reduce, reuse, recycle' philosophy can be beneficial to himself, his family, and his town. I suppose if you're doing an Earth Day or environmentally aware storytime, that this title would fit right in. But it's mostly just boring...:-( ( )
