El Chupacabra (a.k.a. the Goatsucker) has always struck me as on of the funnier sounding of the paranormal legends. However, unlike that episode of the X-Files, this story really made the whole thing work. I really enjoyed the characters of Lanie (librarian, volunteer firfighter and EMT) and Mac (ex Navy SEAL, pilot). The push and pull of their relationship along with the allure of a vampire base theme held my attention without any effort. This story is certainly the start of another great paranormal romance series and I look forward to reading the next book. (
