Our Spock-like Emma Jean doesn't really fall in love in this sequel, which was a bit disappointing. It was a very quick read, and not very satisfying. Still cute, though.

I'm glad there's another book because I wanted badly to spend more time with Emma-Jean and her friends, but this one wasn't quite as enchanting. I don't know if it's because I read them right in order and the referrals to the other, the explanations of the back-story, were intrusive, or if part of the charm of the first was just that it was so original, and of course then the second is no longer as original. Still, if you liked the first, read this also. I'm a fan of the author so I can get notice of her next, too.

Very sweet story of boys and girls in seventh grade. Emma Jean is such a lovely character. ( )
