Fran01 | Mar 2, 2013 |   A wonderful story with gentle rises and falls, as Philip learns that the tools and wood grandpa has in his workshop can't make a rocket or a car. Both characters are wonderful role models: grandpa is sensitive, gentle, and informative, and Philip is persistent, imaginative, and a willing learner. The illustrations, by Emily Arnold McCully, are an excellent mix of soft and bright colors and straight and curved lines, continuing the themes that the text negotiates balancing--structure and flexibility.
