Of course I know Neil Gaiman also writes in other genres, including comics, young adult, and adult so it makes sense. Gaiman's book has a folk tale feel that I enjoyed, along with a message of opening up your senses and your expectations to the world. I didn't quite understand the reasoning for the tiger in the character role it plays and the comments about the nature of a tiger but maybe I was missing something on that part? Anyways, overall I enjoyed the depth the story went into and the illustrations were very unique. Gaiman never disappoints with a boring tale and shies away from infantilizing this folktale. In a classic girl needs saving story, a tiger is the savior who brings her out of her quiet existence by offering to show her the world. Cinnamon is literally blind and does not speak. Her parents search for a teacher, but none can entice her to respond. A talking, fierce tiger appears who uses touch and sound to explain the basic human instincts of pain, fear and love. A speaking Cinnamon leaves her parents ready to explores her world with her savior. An unsavory aunt is eaten by the tiger with great humor to the reader. A curriculum tie-in could be made to the inclusive classroom with a student/s with any sight impairments. Other picture books to do the same would be Moses Goes to a Concert by McMillan. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

The parents of pearl-eyed princess Cinnamon offer a reward to anyone who can help their daughter speak, a plea answered by an exotic tiger who arrives at the palace, armed with knowledge of the world. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

An odd little fairy tale with a scary -- and thus appealing -- tiger. ( )
