Most male characters are almost entirely undeveloped in any dimension unrelated to their romantic potential, while the female protagonist takes virtually no responsibility for her own life or decisions, lending a special aptness to the cover imagery of drifting leaves. ( ) Picked this up randomly at a library, thought the story was interesting, and as I hadn't read DS for a long long time, I chance it. What a load of drivel. Admittedly it is an old story, but the girl in it was a wimp and spent most of the time in tears. Weak storyloine, weak characters, and very little character develoment. This book is the epitome of weak women chronicalled and just too whiny. Bettina Daniels is not a character I sympathized with at all. The girl should have become stronger by losing her father and growing up having to do for her own instead of relying on men who only used her. The more I read of Danielle Steel, the more disgusted I get. It's a quick read but doesn't leave you feeling for Bettina at all. Pathetic!
I read "LOVING" 4 years back. The writing, the characters and the storyline are PATHETIC.I can't believe Danielle Steel is a Best Selling Author
