First in a series in which a young girl in Manhattan learns that her younger sister is a witch. She's still in school and really wants to be popular. She has her sister make a spell in which she can dance which gets her into the big show. Also her father is getting re-married and she hates the stepmother. They also work a spell to make their dad fall back in love with their mom. There are good girls and bad girls and of course she has her schoolgirl crush. All seems to turn south when their mother reverses all the spells that have been done. Rachel can't dance anymore and ruins the show. The Dad is confused and doesn't know what's going on. All things come to a good end. ( )

Bras and Broomsticks is actually the first proper audiobook I've ever listened to. I've always wanted to get into audiobooks, but I've never really cared enough to actually do it. However, I decided to finally give it a go once and for all. Overall, I would say it was a really nice first experience. The MC told the story fluently and I had no trouble understanding her (which was my biggest worry concerning audiobooks). I definitely wouldn't mind listening to another story narrated by her!

Though I enjoyed the audiobook experience, I did have some issues with the story and characters. Honestly speaking, If I hadn't been listening for the audiobook experience, I probably would've rated this a lot lower. The main character, Rachel, is very immature and occasionally very rude. I listened with my mother and we were actually pretty baffled at some of her behavior and thoughts. The story was also pretty predictable and cliche. However, it was still a light, fun story that created an enjoyable experience for an audiobook newcomer.

Overall, I give it 3.5 stars!!! ( )

This was one of my favourite YA series in middle school. A magical adventure that happens in your typical non-magic world mixed with boys and friends in the dark of your new abilities (and basically everything that I'd wished would happen to me). ( )

So now that I have a cd player in my car again I decided that it is time to listen to audiobooks to and from work again. I grabbed this at work last Wednesday and decided to give it a listen. I remember my sister reading this when she was in high school and I was curious about it.

Rachel's sister Miri develops magical powers. The girls use Miri's powers to try and break up their dad and his girlfriend, get their parents back together, and propel Rachel to the A-List. The beginning of the book struck me as a lot of fun and funny and I thought the narrator did a phenomenal job with all of the different characters voices, especially Miri and Rachel. However there was a point where Rachel got a little bit too selfish for me and I did have a hard time with them trying to screw up the wedding, which I'm willing to admit might have something to do with my own wedding being a week away. Funny with a very strong message, but I haven't decided if I will give the next book in the series a try yet. ( )
