Do you remember the last major initiative you watched die in your organization? Did it go down with a loud crash? Or was it slowly and quietly suffocated by other competing priorities? By the time it finally disappeared, it's likely no one even noticed. What happened? The "whirlwind" of urgent activity required to keep things running day-to-day devoured all the time and energy you needed to invest in executing your strategy for tomorrow! The 4 Disciplines of Execution can change all that forever. The 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX) is a simple, repeatable, and proven formula for executing on your most important strategic priorities in the midst of the whirlwind. By following The 4 Disciplines -- Focusing on the Wildly Important; Acting on Lead Measures; Keeping a Compelling Scoreboard; and Creating a Cadence of Accountability -- leaders can produce breakthrough results, even when executing the strategy requires a significant change in behavior from their teams. 4DX is not theory. It is a proven set of practices that have been tested and refined by hundreds of organizations and thousands of teams over many years. When a company or an individual adheres to these disciplines, they achieve superb results--regardless of the goal. 4DX represents a new way of thinking and working that is essential to thriving in today's competitive climate. Simply put, this is one book that no business leader can afford to miss.… (mais)

The 4 Disciplines of Execution taught me about goals and completing them in a timely manner. I love the concept of wildly important goals and lead and lag measures.

For the nonbusiness major or person a wildly important goals is the subject. The lead measure is the objective. The lag measures are the steps to get to the lead measure which then leads you to accomplish your wildly important goals.

I have two goals at the same time. I have always been goal oriented and I have accomplished a lot during my years of education and I continue to educate myself privately in different areas that will help me succeed in life and in business.

Thank you for an outstanding book! ( )

Most of the time we talk of strategy. I, for one, have held for a long time that a strategy without a plan for execution, is just a collection of words on paper.

Similarly, an execution plan must be implemented, else it will remain words on paper.

I like is that Chris has distilled the practice of implementation into four disciplines. When you think about these disciplines, it is tempting to dismiss them as common sense. In some ways, it is common sense. However, most of us also acknowledge that common sense, despite the word “common”, is rare.

The principles, if implemented properly, can transform your business, or any business initiative.

The author has included links to videos in the book. I like this. Inserting the QR codes at various points in the book is excellent.

I dislike the last 100 pages of the book. Chris appears to have dedicated these pages to hard selling their tools and services. This, at least, was my lasting impression. It diluted the impact of the book.

Barring this hard sell, the book is excellent. It’s written in practical language, devoid of all but the most necessary jargon. ( )
