Carregando... Heroes of the Revolutionde David A. Adler
![]() Nenhum(a) Ainda não há conversas na Discussão sobre este livro. Cheesy, short synopses about several Revolutionary War "heroes." I use it during our My Brother Sam is Dead unit to stir up controversy. I read the short description of Crispus Attuck's acts and ask the kids to respond in writing, "Was he a HERO?" They are always divided, but the piece has just the right amount of details to support both opinions. I have a lot of fun with this, and no other text has been quite as perfect for this task. LOW reading level. ( ![]() Pages: 30 Reading Level: 4.9 Highlighting 12 important men and women of the Revolutionary War, this book goes into good detail about how these great people helped America win the war. I would use this book to study some of the important people involved in the war. This book is appropriate for elementary and middle school. The book is brief biographies of 12 revolutionary figures and their contributions in the war. I would use this in an elementary class room as an example of how to write a biography. For a middle school class, in preparation of writing their own biography, I would use this as a preliminary biography to give students some ideas of an historical figure to research. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
Some are household names, other are all but forgotten. These twelve heroes played an important role in the American Revolution. Paul Revere, silversmith, engraver, midnight messenger to the Patriots. Lydia Darragh, nurse, mother of five, Continental army spy. Crispus Attucks, escaped slave, "the first to defy, the first to die." George Washington, father of the country. Deborah Sampson, "the female soldier." From spying on the British to rescuing fallen soldiers on the battlefield, these men and women stand as unforgettable heroes of the Revolutionary War. David A. Adler's lively anecdotes and Donald A. Smith's bold paintings present a dozen figures whose courage and determination to seek freedom were indomitable in their own times and remain a shining example in our own. Author's notes, a list of important dates, source notes, and a selected bibliography expand on the biographies of each person. This is a great gift for young history buffs interested in the Revolutionary War as well as a resource for classroom use. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
