Science and inquiry meet a unique blend of creativity and real-life childhood issues in this colorful, comedic, and somewhat chaotic graphic novel. Max—an energetic, curious boy—loves to document his every thought almost as much as he enjoys inventing new gadgets and trying out wacky experiments. When his parents announce that they will be separating, Max uses his logbook as a way to express his uncertainty and confusion, until finally all his thoughts meld together in a dream, revealing a sense of understanding. The formal text—written as though by hand—ranges from simple sentences to modest paragraphs splayed across a white graphing-paper background and accented by boldly colored drawings. The cartoon and comic strip images, most often illustrating people and focal objects, provide visual support for the content addressed in Max’s diary-like reflections. An array of additional text arrangements dons the pages, including witty call-outs, rhetorical questions, instructive statements and facts, comical side notes, and sarcastic blurbs (typically associated with a given image). Owing to the casual language and underpinning of adolescent tribulations, this story is best suited for middle level readers. ( ) sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
