A land once protected by all sorts of wonderful trees is reduced over time by war and environmental neglect to desert, until new inhabitants plant trees and slowly make Israel bloom again. This is a historical story of trees. We look at trees in the beginning of biblical times such as Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The trees mentioned are the acacia, pomegranate, olive, , almond, terebinth, willow, palm, fig, and tamarisk. The book mentions how the trees protect the earth for the people and animals, it also mentions how the trees held back the sea and cooled the air. As wars broke out, empires rise and fall the center of the events are trees. As the kings used trees for weapons, buildings, and the culture used it for carving gods, and building altars as time evolves. Throughout the historical time line trees are disappearing an no one is re-planting the trees! Until a group of Jewish families begin to plant and two groves of trees this during the late 19th century. World war breaks out and another forest is cut down to meet the needs of the people and war. After the British rule and during World War II more Jews come to the land and plant more trees at this time this is Palestine. Finally Israel becomes independent and the Jewish communities both young and old begin planting a variety of trees. The land of Israel once again is flourished with trees aligning the Mediterranean Sea fulfilling the rich history of Jewish tradition of planting trees so that they can protect the earth that protects people and animals, cools the air, and holds back the sea. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
