A book that does equal both the Jefferson building's magnificent design, as well as its world-acclaimed collections.

As a student at George Washington University (GW), I spent many hours studying beneath the main done instead of the campus library. Lots of great memories. ( )

The rural library did ship this huge book to fill my request!
And I'm glad they did - it's definitely worth a read. I thought I was going to just look at some of the pictures, but Goodrum writes engagingly and I'm enjoying reading every word. About 1/4 through now.
I wish I'd known about this before my trip to DC back in '95, so I could see some of the mentioned treasures irl and have the context to more fully appreciate them.

Done. Oy. Goodrum writes well, but this is still a *lot* of material to study. I only wish it were newer - I'd love to know (without having to do further research) just what is being done now that we can digitize so much, and use the internet to distribute it for almost no cost. ( )
