Kids who know their Hondas from their Toyotas will be intrigued to learn about the man behind Honda Motor Company. This accessible story (with a bit of mechanical science) describes Saichiro Honda's dreams as a boy, his passion for cars, and the hard work that led to worldwide success. ( ) I had mixed feelings about what I liked and did not like in this book. On one hand, the pictures in this book were beautiful! I absolutely love how this book is illustrated. Another thing I enjoyed about this book is how it had its sources listed. Since this book contains a lot of facts and is non-fiction about someone other than the author, it is nice to know that the author did his fact checking. However, I did not enjoy this book overall. I thought it was pretty boring in its text and that the pictures distracted me from paying attention to the MUCH smaller text. There is too much written on each page and the pictures are very large. I get that this is supposed to be a story about how Honda had obsession with engines, cars, and transportation, but I feel that this book is trying to appeal to a crowd that is too young to care about all of the facts and biographical aspects of this book. This is a book about the creator of Honda and is life. It talks about how his life was growing up and what he did to become so big and be able to do the one thing he loved, creating cars. I liked this book because it was fun to learn about how the creator of Honda made his cars. The grade level would be 3-4 grade because of all of the terms and long sentences This is a biography I stumbled across at my local library. I have to admit that my knowledge of Soichiro Honda was woefully slim prior to reading this. I now feel that I know much more than I did to start and I enjoyed learning it, and after all, isn't that the mark of a good biography? I was very impressed by this book. It's written in a manner that would make it readable for a younger audience without being dumbed down to a point where it excluded the real content of Honda's life. Very good book. I'll keep an eye for other similar books by Mark Weston. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
