A Zen Buddhist masterpiece, winner of the 2018 Thornton Wilder Prize for Translation. The Platform Sutra occupies a central place in Zen (Ch'an) Buddhist instruction for students and spiritual seekers worldwide. It is often linked with The Heart Sutra and The Diamond Sutra to form a trio of texts that have been revered and studied for centuries. The Platform Sutra originally was written by Hui-neng. It has been translated a number of times, which can be found under Hui-neng. The platform sutra : the Zen teaching of Hui-neng contains a translation plus extensive commentaries by Red Pine with the commentaries comprising the bulk of the work. Because the emphasis in this book is on the commentary of Red Pine, please do not combine it with Hui-neng's work.
