Everybody in class sings "The Clean Hands Song" (to the tune of "My Boyfriend's Back"!) and washes their hands before eating lunch...don't they? It turns out the Frank twins don't, and lots of classmates get sick. Mrs. Jenkins knows that the rest of the class knows who the non-hand-washers are, but they won't tell (even though this is a case where "telling helps, not hurts"). So Fritz and Mr. Wagweed invent a Germostat, which works beautifully - although the Franks can't figure out how. ( )

37 months - How many times have we told our kids to wash their hands and that they don't want to put germs in their mouths and get sick. Well I think O was fascinated with this book because not only did it talk about washing hands but they had a machine to check and drawings of germs. ( )

The Germ Busters by Rosemary Wells tells all about cleanliness. Everyday at school kids in Mrs. Jenkins' class sing "The Clean Hands Song" to raise awareness of germs Two students, the Franks, disobey the rules and do not ever wash their hands and wipe their noses on their sleeves. This causes peers to become very sick and the teacher has to reiterate why it is important to wash their hands and be clean. Children can learn a couple things from this book. They can recognize the different animals in the classroom and they can also learn about germs and how important it is to be clean for themselves and others. ( )

This book is about germs. The Franks refuse to wash their hands even though they sang the clean hands song. The Franks caused their classmates to get sick, and even though the other classmates knew where the germs came from, they couldn't tell. So, the science teacher brought in the Germostat and was able to detect that the Franks did not wash their hands and any other in the future that didn't. ( )

This story is about a teacher named Mrs. Jenkins who teachers her class the practice of cleanliness. Before lunch, her students sing "The Clean Hands Song" and then wash their hands until they are perfectly clean. Also, the students wash their hands very good after recess and other parts of the day. Most of the students are very good about following these classroom procedures; however, the Frank twins are not because they never wash their hands. Eventually, several classmates become very sick, but Mrs. Jenkins does not understand why because she tells her students to wash their hands several times a day. None of the students want to tattle on the Frank twins; therefore, Mrs. Jenkins decides to get the help of Mr. Wagweed and one of her students named Fritz. Together, they build a germostat that finds the Frank twins to be the culprits.
I would read this book to students in kindergarten through third grade. A good time to read this is when students are learning about the importance of cleanliness. Also, it could be read on the first day of school because that is when class routines are taught, which includes cleanliness. ( )
