This book's illustrations are its most pleasing feature, being tiny pen and watercolor paintings of the characters. Children enjoy the tiny delicate details, like the tiny shoes that Peter leaves in the garden when he is nearly caught by the farmer. The stories each have a moral that is appropriate to young children.
This book could be used with early elementary students for a read-aloud session, although the pictures would be too tiny to be seen from any distance. It is best enjoyed in a one-to-one reading time, with the child holding the book. For older children, they will feel they are too old for the stories, but it can be used to introduce students to an older style of writing and old vocabulary words. ( )
