Le fiabe di Beda il Bardo sono l’ultimo libro della biblioteca di Hogwarts che mi mancava da leggere (con mia somma sorpresa ho letto anche Il Quidditch attraverso i secoli, ma non ne conservo alcun ricordo… sto invecchiando malino), quindi mi sembrava giunto il momento di colmare la lacuna.

In generale, è un libro piacevole, un po’ per le fiabe, un po’ per il commento di Silente, che fornisce altri interessanti dettagli sul mondo di Harry Potter: per me è impossibile non sorridere davanti al fatto che Minerva McGranitt ci tiene a precisare di non aver mai svolto alcuna attività clandestina come Animagus, oppure provare uno strizzotto al cuore leggendo anche solo il titolo di un libro che parlerebbe della lotta di un uomo contro la licantropia.

Però devo confessare che la finzione letteraria ha vacillato di fronte al fatto che queste fiabe sono solo cinque: cioè, voglio dire, Ron Weasley ci aveva raccontato che maghi e streghe crescono con le storie di Beda il Bardo, e sono solo cinque? I genitori raccontano loro in loop solo cinque fiabe? M’è parso super strano... ( )

The Tales Of Beedle The Bard is a slender volume of tales by J.K. Rowling, part of the world of Harry Potter. The tales themselves are straightforward and nicely told fables, lovely and magic to read. But the most fun part of the book for this adult reader, who frequently finds much delight and entertainment in books intended for younger readers, is the commentary that follows each tale.

That commentary is by none other than Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore himself. The commentary, which points out the moral and historical provenance each tale, is wry and witty and funny. Beedle's tales are entertaining and enjoyable. ( )

I think it's pretty great that Rowling just keeps detailing her totally made up world. These fairy tales are short (the margins take up a good chunk of each page) but they're good. They have the same qualities that our enduring real fairy tales have: classic, moral, and kind of disturbing. ( )
