McDuff and the Baby is an easy read book because the words are small and easy for children to read on their own. This book is about change in the family. The family started as a mom, dad, and a dog. Soon the newest addition became a baby. There was change throughout the family because the baby became much more needy then the dog was so the mom and dad stopped paying as much attention to the dog and gave most of it to the baby. This is a good book to read to children who are experiencing or will experience change in their family. It will show children that even though some things may change and new traditions may be made, the old traditions can still stay the same. This is a good book that a teacher can read while taking about family dynamics. It gives a different perspective on a family with the dog being the main charter. The illustrations in this book are very well done. They are very colorful and they look like they were painted. ( )

Great book that shows how pets are affected by change. It can also show that maybe if your parents have another child that they have not forgotten about you. ( )
