A reckless grandmother dispatches a clueless pre-school infant to undertake menial labour on her farm unattended. Unsurprisingly, without guidance, the child takes forever to complete the simplest tasks. Oh, dear! Grandma will regret her cavalier attitude to childcare one day. ( )

Oh Dear! is by Rod Campbell. It is a lift-a-flap book. It is about a little boy named Buster who is staying with his grandma on her farm. Buster's grandma gets him to fetch some eggs for breakfast. Buster then begins his little adventure where he explores the various homes of the farm animals. He explores the shed of a cow, the pen of a pig, the grazing land of a sheep, the shed of a horse, the dog house of a dog, the cage of a rabbit, and the pond of a duck. He could not find eggs in any of these. Finally, he found eggs in the hen house of a hen. The story ends with an illustration of Buster eating happily an egg with crackers.

The book is aimed towards Preschool to Kindergarden kids. The book has very good illustrations and the text accompany it nicely. The lift-the-flap feature is a good addition to the book also. The lift-the-flap makes the book more interactive and more exciting for kids. Behind each flap, there is a picture of the animal and the noise it makes which also makes the book more interactive and exciting for kids. Based on my review, I give Oh Dear! 5 out of 5 stars. ( )
