Five brothers and sisters drive their parents to distraction with their musical band composed of such instruments as spoons, skillets, and pots.

The five children in this book have such a passion and creativity for music, but their parents to do not want to hear it any more. They take it upon themselves to create their own band and make their own instruments. Lyon also shows the confidence and courage in children in this book along with Ginny in her Kindergarten class. This simplistic book speaks so much volume about the energy and creativity of children. As teachers we have to allow children to express themselves in whatever way they choose. We may not agree with what they want to do, like the dad in this book, but we need to support and encourage them because it will be so fruitful as we know from the great music of the Found Sound Band. One of those books that make me say yes please! I see more and more adults wanting to control their child's everyday life all the time. I feel like children need to be who they are all the time. Don't tell children what they are going to be when they are older ask. If a child wants to be a musician, tell them that there banging on a pot sounds terrific! This book is one of those inspiring tales about bringing your dreams to reality. These five children want to be musicians, so they make there very on musical instrument out of everyday items! It is a very cute story that I would recommend to once again any age group. Who can read enough books on creativity? Not me, that is who! ( )

Good for onomatopoeia. The five children are musicians with improvised instruments. They can’t be contained so their father finds a way to accommodate their musical needs. They end up building their own band in the garage. It all ends happily. ( )
