I want to thank my husband, John, for his patience while I worked on this book. He puts up with dyed fabric all over our shared studio and curing fabric in the laundry room. He helps me when I get stumped with color choices. His love and support help me through all aspects of developing and writing a book. Since at the same time, I was studying for exams, planning my daughter's wedding, and making her dress, his help was invaluable. My thanks, also, to my friends for ooh-ing and aahing over my fabrics and quilts and for encouraging me to pursue the work that I love. Special thanks to my miece, Ashley Cohen, who wrote the poem The Rainbow Maker when she was just 11 years old, inspiring me to make the quilt on page 102.
